Peace on Earth Day is Saturday, May 5th

The news is out! Peace on Earth Day, Promoting Peace and Well Being for People and Animals will be held on Saturday, May 5th at New Beginnings Retreat at Little Bit Farm.

This is an exciting time for us, with spring flowers blooming everywhere and the birds singing and the energy of the season buzzing around us. We are grateful to be hosting the Peace on Earth Day event to support our local hospice services, and provide a place to come together to learn and share in our community.

Here are some of the details about the event...

What: Peace on Earth Day, Promoting Peace and Well Being for People and Animals

Where: New Beginnings Personal Retreat at Little Bit Farm, 178 Little Bit Road, Hillsville, VA 24333

When: Saturday, May 5, 2012, 9am-9pm

Why: To support the Twin County Hospice services in the southern Virginia region, bring attention to peaceful and healthy lifestyle choices, encourage pro-active, holistic and alternative approaches to personal care, connect with local and regional community resources

New Beginnings Personal Retreat at Little Bit Farm in the location for the event. Owner Linda O'Connell and her friend, Tommy Billings of Billingsway Farm and Rustic Retreat, have both had personal experience with hospice services. They determined that an event celebrating spring, creating connections in the community and sharing healthy lifestyles could benefit the local Twin Counties Hospice volunteer program. They created the event to provide a direct financial donation from 50% of the proceeds of vendor fees, and to sponsor a silent auction with 100% of the donations benefiting the local hospice volunteers program.

There are demonstrations scheduled throughout the day focused on improving health and wellness. Vendors with local crafts, green lifestyle products and services will be attending, along with food and drink vendors. The Galax band, High Grass, will be performing 4 sets during the afternoon and evening hours. Free pony rides and mechanical bull rides will be provided by Billingsway Farm and Rustic Retreat.

Find our news brief in the April issue of Natural Awakenings of Southwestern Virginia magazine, which is distributed from Lynchburg to Charlottesville to Abingdon to Stuart. Watch for more information throughout Grayson, Carroll, Floyd, Roanoke, and Montgomery Counties.

Our goal is to support the important work of Twin Counties Hospice and their partners. It is our honor to bring attention and financial support to the efforts made on behalf of the people in our community. We look forward to meeting many new people at the Peace on Earth Day event.
